Function

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Technical Buyer for an international, technically oriented organization. In this position, you will be responsible for purchasing products/spare parts and coaching the purchasing team. This is a full-time position with a lot of personal responsibility, in which you will regularly coordinate and collaborate with colleagues from various departments. You will have room for your own initiatives and for implementing improvements. In this position, you will be responsible for agreements with your suppliers (including price and delivery reliability and high-quality long-term agreements). You will conduct contract negotiations and tenders.

You are skilled at sourcing new products, but you also perform well in terms of efficiency, commitment, persuasiveness, and organizational skills. You respond to customer requests and/or provide input for preparing quotations. As Lead Technical Buyer, you will have frequent contact with existing suppliers, but you will also seek out new suppliers. You are also always on the lookout for better and innovative commercial products.

You report to the purchasing manager and support your manager in managing the purchasing team. In addition to your existing duties, you focus on coaching and supervising the international purchasing team. Your responsibilities in this position include the following:

• Maintaining/monitoring contacts with suppliers and conducting negotiations (based on price and delivery agreements) in which you place a high priority on quality;
• You are a motivator, coach, and source of information for your colleagues in the purchasing department and guide them where necessary.
• You frequently provide training and guidance to the purchasing team;
• Requesting quotes and following up on them;
• Proactively addressing problem cases in collaboration with those involved;
• You are involved in various international procurement projects;
• Contributing to the development of a professional purchasing organization;
• Assessing stock positions at the various locations;
• Keeping your own market and purchasing knowledge up to date;
• You are focused on continuous improvement;
• Identify opportunities to respond to relevant developments in the market.

Job requirements

• HBO/WO working and thinking level (technical and/or commercial);
• Good verbal and written command of Dutch and English;
• Approximately 5 years of experience in an international technical environment is required.
• Work experience with technical products/spare parts is a big plus;
• Experience in coaching teams is a major advantage;
• Well versed in contract negotiations and tenders;
• You are proficient in Excel and in working with ERP systems;
• You are commercially driven and a go-getter;
• You are honest and a true team player;
• You dare to take initiative.
